You can submit a photo regardless of your specific gender identity, and we will not judge whether or not you’re “butch enough” to be included in this project. Submitting a photo doesn’t necessarily mean you identify as butch, though if you do that’s great too, obviously. This image project focuses on the wide range of masculine of center identities that everyday folks like us display. Send in your favorite outfit, what you wear daily, what you wore to your cousin’s wedding, the before-you-were-butch photos, whatever!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Butch Lab Project is to promote a greater understanding of masculine of center gender identities, expressions, and presentations, through encouraging: 1. visibility, because we feel alone; 2. solidarity, because there are many of us out there, but we don’t always communicate with each other; and 3. an elevation of the discussion, because we have a long history and lineage to explore and we don’t have to reinvent the wheel.
